Author

Dr. Kandice Kottke-Marchant, MD PhD, currently serves as Section Head for Hemostasis and Thrombosis at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. She also holds the title of President of the International Society of Laboratory Hematology, alongside her role as a professor of Pathology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. With over 100 peer-reviewed publications to her name, Dr. Kottke-Marchant is a recognized authority in haemostasis and has participated as a member on various review panels for the NIH, CAP, ISO/TC212, and NASCOLA. Her commitment has significantly raised the global profile of the ISLH, where she has been managing annual Symposia since 2002. This extensive involvement positions her uniquely as a co-Editor of the “Textbook of Laboratory Hematology.”

Elkin Simson, MD, PCAP, FACSP, serves as the Medical Director of the Center for Clinical Laboratories and Hematology Laboratory at Mount Sinai Hospital. He is an Associate Professor and Vice Chairman in the Pathology Department at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY, USA. Previously holding the position of Vice-President for Medical and Scientific Affairs at Technicon Instruments Corporation, Dr. Simson was integral to the creation of the first automated hematology analyzers that combined CBC and WBC differential into a singular device. A former President of the ISLH, he also holds leadership roles within ICSH and has contributed significantly as the Chairman of various committees aimed at establishing hematology standards. His experience renders him an ideal co-editor for this publication.

The proposed section editors comprise a panel of international experts, many of whom are longstanding members of ISLH and have made notable contributions at ISLH Symposia as recognized speakers. Dr. Bruce Davis, a co-founder of ISLH, has been pivotal in developing automated cellular and flow cytometric technologies. Professor Alberto Orfao, a leading global authority on flow cytometry, alongside Professor Samuel Machin, President of the British Society of Haematology and an eminent specialist in hemostasis testing, are key contributors to this endeavor. Medical technologist Stefanie McFadden is widely sought after for her expertise in laboratory management and informatics.
